Fresh off two frustrating but impressive fast-finishing runs in Saturday Highway company, a talented and lightly raced mare is ready to throw down a Country Championship warning at Monday’s feature Bathurst meeting.
Life’s A Party, a five-year-old by renowned sprint sire Star Turn in the Mark Jones yard at Mudgee, tackles the feature Country Championship Preview at Class 4 Handicap level over 1200m.
And it shapes as the ideal launching pad race for this explosive galloper who is gunning for a fourth win in her 10th start.
Drawn the fence, Life’s a Party will be set for the Central Districts Country Championship Qualifier at Mudgee if all goes to plan at Bathurst.
After two dominant wins up to Class 2 level before Christmas, Life’s A Party has twice made up enormous ground in Highway company, firstly finishing only a half-length behind high-class Gallant Star before running Smart and Dapper to two lengths a month ago.
She is likely to get a further boost with early market rival Scopics being preferred at Randwick last Saturday and is unlikely to back up.

That said, on the smaller Bathurst track, the pattern may not do Life’s A Party any great favours, given she likes to settle well back.
Locally trained five-year-old Possibly So is building a nice resume having won four from 19, and reloads five weeks after a barnstorming win at big odds in Highway grade when he came from near last on the turn.
