A woman has left people absolutely flabbergasted after she used her air fryer to make a cup of tea.

Britons are fiercely protective over the way a brew is made, and many are already horrified by more rogue tea drinkers who use a microwave for their hot drink. 

However, Whitney Ainscough from Rotherham has taken unconventional tea making methods to a whole new level after she revealed she makes hers in the air fryer – where there were still a few chips lingering from another meal. 

Kicking off her tutorial on TikTok, she told her following of more than a quarter of a million that all you need is a mug, tea bag and some cold water.

‘So you get your tea bag. Get some cold water, and a bit of sugar in there,’ she said whilst splashing water into the mug.

Taking around six minutes to boil, the mother warned viewers in the now viral clip not to touch the cup straight away as it will be hot

After setting the timer to six minutes, the mother who goes by @itsmebadmom on TikTok, briefly checked on her brew. 

‘So that’s cooking. So as you can tell the colour is starting to come out,’ she added.

She told he followers that at this point, they should add milk to the hot drink. 

After reaching the six minute mark she was ready to sip her boiling hot tea, quipping: ‘Absolutely banging. So all you got to do is chuck the tea bag out and its ready – voila.’

In the clip which now has over 2.1 million views, she warned viewers to take care with the mug as it can be ‘quite hot’ after the process.

However, many were left enraged by the way the social media influencer made her brew. 

‘This is such a f*****g disgrace to us Brits,’ one wrote. ‘How dare you make it in an air fryer? That is actually diabolical.’

Another chimed in: ‘Spilling milk in the air fryer was my final straw.’ 

Others were quick to ask why she didn’t use a kettle, with a user commenting: ‘They invented a kettle for a good reason.’

One viewer went as far as to even offer to buy the mother a kettle themselves.

‘Six mins for that. I’m good two mins for a kettle to boil for me and it will be decent’

While some were ‘crying in British’, other saw the funny side to the viral clip, commenting on the chips left in the air-fryer.

However, not everyone was happy about her methods, with many flooding the comments with horror and shock after witnessing the mother boil her tea in the air-fryer, enraged onlookers even branded it 'an absolute disgrace'

‘Looks like a chippy tea,’ joked one, while another added: ‘Love a cuppa with a hint of chip fat.’

‘Should have put dinner in at the same time, so it’s all ready together,’ one follower jibbed.

Air fryers are designed to cook dry foods, therefore it is not advised to boil any liquids in your device.

According to Better Homes & Gardens, heating up liquids in you air fryer will release steam which can damage the appliance.

Cooking methods including, poaching, braising or boiling food you should be done on a stove.
