The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series, has been a hit with fans and highly rated by the likes of Rotten Tomatoes, so it’s no surprise everyone is asking about a season 2.

With an all-star cast, including legendary hardmen Vinnie Jones and Ray Winstone, the eight-parter follows toff Eddie, played by The White Lotus star Theo James, who unexpectedly becomes the landlord of a weed farm.

After becoming entangled in the criminal enterprise, overseen by the hard-nosed gangster Susie (Kaya Scodelario), bloodshed, chaos, and mischief ensue, while Eddy gets sucked further into the dark side.

Meanwhile, his brother, Freddie, played by Daniel Ings, fares no better and keeps having run-ins with violent gangsters, with audiences declaring him the ‘most annoying character in TV history.’

With a dramatic final episode that paves the way for a follow-up season, fans, who gave the show an impressive 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, have been demanding more.

Irwin was among the hundreds on X begging for season 2, writing: I’ve just finished #TheGentlemen and, frankly, this series is just crazy – the plot twists, the main duo… Can’t wait for season 2.’

Echoing Irwin’s sentiment, Sachixx added: Jusy binged watch #TheGentlemen and it was soo good. Season 2 better come soon.’

X account Jackie also commented: ‘8 episodes of #TheGentlemen wasn’t enough for me season 2 better be on the way cause I need more Theo and Kaya content they’re chemistry is top tier @netflix.’

Here is everything we know about the future of The Gentlemen.

Will there be a season 2 of The Gentlemen?

Netflix has yet to confirm or announce a second season of The Gentlemen, but it was first conceived as an ongoing series that could run for multiple seasons.

According to Deadline, Guy has already pitched storyline ideas for season 2, while the boss of the show’s production company confirmed they’ve ‘started the process’ on a follow-up instalment.

‘There are some writers we’ve talked to, certainly lots of discussion with Guy about what he might want to do in a second season, what things to focus on,’ Marc Helwig, Miramax’s head of worldwide television, told the publication.

Marc, however, did warn that season 2 was dependent on the performance of the first season, adding: ‘But it’s been an active ongoing discussion already what a second season would be.’

And if The Gentlemen becomes a stonking success, Marc said it wouldn’t just stop at a season 2 and could potentially ‘spawn some kind of universe’ including a new movie.

Giancarlo Esposito, who plays villain Stanley Johnston in The Gentlemen, another drug boss who wants to take over Susie and Eddy’s weed empire, also shared his hope for a season 2.

He told Digital Spy: ‘Nothing was ever discussed of a second season. But when you’re in the last episode of the first season – a really great scene, I love Ray Winstone – then you know, we have the possibility of going further. And I think the show does as well.’

Similarly, Alexis Rodney, who plays Stanley’s lawyer Stevens in the eight-parter, teased the possibility of a season 2 to the Radio Times.

He said: ‘Who knows what the future holds. Stevens is running free with his Machiavellian ways, up to mischief somewhere. I hope it goes to season two.

‘When you look back to really great shows like The Wire, with the magic of writing we can still have those guys, their prison world going on, we can explore that, with young Stevens on the outside, maybe making some visits in you know to handle business. That’s the route I want to go because I want to be in it.’

Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

The Gentlemen season one is available to stream on Netflix.
