A criminal organisation, which operated internationally specialising in massive fraud in the time-share sector, was busted by the Policía Nacional in Málaga.

The gang through a bogus holiday & leisure firm managed to swindle 155 foreign victims, the majority of whom were pensioners.

The victims had fallen prey at organised congresses, probably of the kind, “come along to a free meal and we will explain about our time-share offer.”

This police operation, Black Holidays, led to seven arrests and another person under investigation but to date not arrested. The police also blocked 2.5m euros in associated bank accounts. The police swooped in March after two years of investigation.

The said police operation came about thanks to a group of victims who had hired a lawyer to bring about a denuncia before the Policía Nacional.

Dazzled by an ample range of leisure activities (none of which materialised) associated with time-share purchases, with a supposed money-back-if-not-satisfied guarantee, over a hundred and fifty pensioners invested their savings only to lose them.
