Princess Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith has slammed wild conspiracy theories about his niece’s health as she recovers from abdominal surgery.

Kate Middleton spent almost a fortnight at Marylebone’s The London Clinic after having abdominal surgery but was discharged on January 29.

Goldsmith, who entered the Celebrity Big Brother house as a contestant last night, previously described his royal niece as ‘beautiful’ and branded the racism claims against her as ‘bull****’.

Kate will be away from official royal engagements until after Easter after major surgery in January, with Kensington Palace insisting last week that she was still ‘doing well’.

She has not been seen at any royal events since attending church at Sandringham on Christmas Day with William and their children George, Charlotte and Louis – although TMZ published a photo of her in a car in Windsor with Mrs Middleton yesterday.

Speaking on social media, Goldsmith said conspiracy theorists ‘should leave her alone right now because there’s a reason why they’re not talking about it,’ the Mirror reported.

He added:  ‘They are giving her a little bit of space. I just think it’s fundamentally wrong and if it was happening to anybody else they would think to give them some space.

‘But because Kate’s Kate, she does such an amazing job, there’s always interest in her.

‘She’s the number one royal for a reason and I just beg people to give her some space.

‘I do think that they’re changing the dynamic and they are family centric. They’ve got duty and it’s a privilege to have the roles that they do have, but it’s family first.

‘You’ve got to look after yourself. You put your own oxygen mask on before you look after others.

‘Kate, get well, love you and when you’re ready we’ll see you again. That’s what we do to anyone else, why not her?’

Goldsmith, who made his money in recruitment and was once worth £30million, is thought to have been kept at arm’s length by the Middletons in recent years.

This is despite him attending William and Kate’s wedding in London in 2011 and then that of Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton to James Matthews in Berkshire six years later.

Goldsmith regularly speaks out to support Kate, who is thought to call him ‘Uncle G’, and has previously hailed her as ‘the most spectacular person I have ever met’.

But royal experts fear him on the ITV show is the ‘last thing she needs’ – and said the Middleton family will hope he ‘gets the thumbs down from the public pretty smartly’.

Tattooed father-of-one Goldsmith earned notoriety when he was caught in a drugs sting by the now-defunct News Of The World newspaper in 2009 at his Ibiza villa, the Maison de Bang Bang – crude French slang for the ‘House of Sex’.

He was filmed giving hard drugs to an undercover reporter – but denied taking drugs and reporter Mazher Mahmood, known as the ‘Fake Sheikh’, was later jailed for perverting the course of justice.

Prince William and Kate stayed at the property in 2006 and were due to go there again in 2009 until Goldsmith was involved in the sting and caught bragging about his royal connections.

The house also became infamous for being the scene of Goldsmith’s seedy nights of excess and his boasts about watching pornography while there.

At the time of the sting, he was alleged to have joked that once William and Kate were married, he would have access to Buckingham Palace, saying: ‘I’ve got my own rooms, the Goldsmith Wing. I’m going to be the Duke of Slough.’

But while the incident caused major embarrassment to the Royal Family at the time, Goldsmith later revealed to the Mail on Sunday in 2013 that he received a call from Mrs Middleton to apologise for all the trouble they had caused to him.

He said: ‘People like to think that I’m this black sheep, a bad boy. I’m not really. I’ve had my moments – I’m not totally innocent – but am I disliked by my family?

‘No, that is simply not true. I’ve got a good heart and I care about people. We have never fallen out.

‘The minute that story broke, Carole was on the phone apologising to me on behalf of the family, specifically Kate, about me being suddenly thrust into the limelight.’

Goldsmith grew up in a council house in Hounslow, West London, as the son of a decorator father and shop worker mother.

He began work as an IT operator but made his living in sports management and recruitment.

When his recruitment firm floated on the stock market in 2005, he became a multi-millionaire with an estimated fortune of £30million.

It came as the Ministry of Defence was today claimed to have jumped the gun by announcing the Princess of Wales’s return to royal duties without consulting Kensington Palace.

The Army’s official website has confirmed Kate Middleton will carry out her first major engagement since her abdominal surgery at the parade in London on June 8.

Tickets are now being sold on the site for the spectacle on the weekend before the main Trooping the Colour ceremony, which is normally reviewed by the monarch.

But while this is Kate’s first official duty to be announced since she underwent surgery, Kensington Palace has not yet confirmed her attendance. MailOnline understands that Palace officials were not consulted on the update from the MoD.

A royal source added that attendance by Prince William or Kate at events is always announced by the Palace, not the MoD. But it appears the MoD hopes Kate will be well enough to attend one of the key ceremonial events in the Armed Forces’ year.

Only the Palace can announce Kate’s attendance at a royal event – and confirmation is not expected until nearer the time. MailOnline contacted the MoD for comment, but questions were directed to the Palace, which has also not issued a statement.

Previously, Goldsmith slammed Prince Harry for throwing the royal family ‘under the bus’ – defending Kate against claims she was the ‘royal racist’.

In an interview with The Sun, Goldsmith said: ‘She’s beautiful on the outside, but more beautiful on the inside and really is a doting mum.

‘That’s why I got so upset with Harry and Meghan because you don’t put a stick into that spoke and reinvent history.

‘I’ve got pretty miffed when they had a pop at my beautiful niece who couldn’t say anything for herself.’

Goldsmith’s comments come after Kate and King Charles were identified by author Omid Scobie as those alleged to have asked Meghan and Harry what colour Archie’s skin might be before he was born.

‘It’s absolute bull**** and I didn’t hide my feelings very well when I was offered the opportunity to say something,’ said Goldsmith. ‘Kate is 100 per cent not racist.’
