Prince Harry will not return to the royal fold as the “drawbridge is up” and there is no way back for him, the late Princess Diana’s former butler has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex has been estranged from the Royal Family ever since he and his wife Meghan Markle, quit their royal duties and moved to the US back in 2020.
But recently, hopes were raised of a possible reconciliation between the two sides after Harry rushed back home following King Charles’s shock cancer diagnosis.
But Paul Burrell, who worked for the late Princess Diana for a decade up until her death, was adamant that “too much has been said” by the Duke and Prince William has “drawn a line” as he has had “enough of him”.
Speaking on behalf of Slingo, the former royal butler said: “There is no place for Harry in the royal fold.”
He added: “He has made his bed and now he has to lie in it. Too much has been said. The drawbridge is up and there is no way back for Harry.
“In his own mind and his world, I think he thought it was a possibility, now the family is in crisis, that he could step in, put on a uniform and do a few jobs for William and Charles, but it is not possible in the Royal Family’s eyes, or the public’s eyes.”
Burrel added that the scenario of Harry coming back “sends the wrong message” and the Prince of Wales will not want “any confusion going forward”.
He explained: “William has drawn a line in the sand and has had enough so Harry will forever be the outcast Prince of his own making.”
Burrell insisted that there is “no way back” for Harry who, he said thought he could “have one foot in the camp and one foot out”.
He said: “His job as a member of the Royal Family is over.”
