The Guardia Civil stepped in and arrested a police officer belonging to the Policía Local de Granada, charged in relation to the glorification of jihadist terrorism.
The officer, who was arrested at home in La Zubia (Granada metropolitan area) has been a member of the municipal police for nearly 30 years. He had been under investigation and his Chief of Police informed that his use of a firearm should be withdrawn.
However, it was the Provincial Law Courts that decided that an immediate arrest should be made without waiting for further investigation.
Armed with a search warrant, as well as an arrest warrant, they searched his home and confiscated certain items that could be used as a weapon — bear in mind that as a police officer, he has a firearms licence. He was then taken to the police station where he works and his locker was also searched in his presence.
According to the Ministerio del Interior, this is the seventh jihadism-related arrest that has been carried out in the province of Granada with the previous ones being five within the city and one in Huétor Tájar.
