A 46-year-old man is accused of stabbing a 32-year-old man to death in North York on Friday morning.

Toronto Police say officers responded to a call for a person with a knife outside of 3101 Weston Rd. – a highrise at Sheppard Ave. W. – just before 7 a.m.

“It is alleged that there was an altercation between two men out front of a residential building,” Cons. Laura Brabant said in a statement released Saturday. “One man was stabbed with a sharp edged weapon during the altercation.”
She said the gravely injured man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The victim has now been identified as Dimitri Smith, 32, of Toronto.
A suspect, also a Toronto resident, was arrested at the scene.
Dean Joel Constance, 46, of Toronto, is charged with first-degree murder.
Police have said investigators believe the two men knew each other.
