Joe Rogan Calls ‘The View’ A “Rabies-Infested Henhouse” After Coleman Hughes Says He Didn’t Expect Sunny Hostin To “Ambush” Him

Joe Rogan has some strong feelings about The View. On a recent episode of his podcast, he referred to the hit daytime talk show as a “rabies-infested henhouse” that people “love to hate.”

His comments came during an interview with author Coleman Hughes, who recently found himself in the hot seat on The View for his views on race in the U.S. In his book — The End of Race Politics: Arguments for a Colorblind America — he argues that people shouldn’t be defined by their race. Instead, he believes “disadvantaged” people should be addressed based on poverty rather than the color of their skin.

During his appearance on the March 27 episode of The View, co-host Sunny Hostin slammed his book as “fundamentally flawed” before accusing him of being a “pawn” of the right and a “charlatan” — even though he has never voted for a Republican.

At the time, he rebutted, “There’s no evidence that I’ve been co-opted by anyone. I have an Independent podcast. I work for CNN as an analyst. I write for the free press. I’m Independent in all of these endeavors and nobody is paying me to say what I’m saying. I’m saying it because I feel it.”

Hughes looked back on the heated exchange while chatting with Rogan on the newest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

“I had no idea what to expect,” he said of appearing on The View. “I had no idea who Sunny Hostin was. I actually still really don’t know. I wasn’t expecting necessarily for her to kind of ambush me in that way and attack my character in that way.”

Hughes also added that he “didn’t expect it to go as viral as it did,” prompting Rogan to chime in with his take on The View.

“It is the show that people love to hate,” the podcast host said. “They get so much hate-watching and hate-watching viral clips of them saying ridiculous things. I mean, it is a rabies-infested henhouse.”

When Hughes said the “most interesting part” of his appearance was that the audience “seemed to be on [his] side,” Rogan replied, “Well, their audience is not really their audience. Their audience is a group of people they bring in to watch television shows.”

Decider has reached out to The View for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
