Sally will be raising awareness and funds for conservation, local communities and wildlife in the countries she visits. “A volunteering stint in Africa left me passionate to lend my full support to wildlife conservation and support for local communities, says Sally Parkinson, adding, “A huge thank you to Willy, manager of Club Albalá Pádel, all those who have sponsored this tournament, my Albalá friends and all those taking part.”

Quote from Club Albalá Willy (Guillermo Gonzalez Martin), Rincon De La Victoria
“Supporting Sally’s project is our way of helping somehow from afar, she will be there but we all will have contributed to her cause”
Current tournament sponsors are: BluCee Real Estate based in Torre del Mar, Casa Mia Panaderia Pasteleria in Vélez-Málaga, Ibéricos Añoreta, and Zurca Mercado Natural in Rincón de la Victoria.

How to join the tournament
The tournament (Torneo Benefico Acompaña a Sally Parkinson) is scheduled for 6th of April from 10.00hrs. The cost is €18 per player, which includes court hire, balls and prizes. Players should register through the Padel Manager app

Recipient of Fundraising
Funds raised from the tournament will be donated to Care for Wild whom Sally will be meeting up with on her reconnaissance trip starting on 8th April.

Care for Wild focuses on:
• Restoring rhino ecosystems and promoting biodiversity
• The rapid rescue of orphaned rhino calves
• the importance of partnerships with local communities and prioritises the involvement of people in conservation efforts.

Sally Parkinson was inspired by her time volunteering with Care for Wild in 2023, which has driven her to embark on this conservation venture in 2024.

Note: Sally Parkinson is a 64-year-old seasoned traveller and would-be adventurer. As a result of Sally’s experiences with conservation in Africa, she has decided to undertake an epic adventure on 4 wheels throughout sub-Saharan Africa, to further raise awareness and funds for conservation, local communities and eco-tourism.

This trip will see her traversing the following countries over a 1–2-year period, starting around September/October 2024: South Africa, Swaziland, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya and possibly Angola.

To achieve her goals, Sally will be aiming to take part and get involved in community and wildlife related activities. She will be carefully researching the viability of any projects she supports with regards to whether they will actually make a difference and are worthy causes.

One of Sally’s main focuses will be on projects to regenerate lost and available habitat which not only paves the way for re-introduction of wildlife species to these areas but also will provide employment opportunities for local communities. Examples are African Parks project to rewild 2000 rhino https://www.africanparks.org/campaign/rewilding-2000-rhino and Peace Parks Maputo Project https://www.peaceparks.org/parks/maputo-special-reserve/
