New weapons, armour, and emotes are coming to Helldivers 2 next week through its battle pass, but it’s not free.
Helldivers 2 has quickly taken the throne as one of the best new live service games around and has helped PC gamers reach a new high of over 34 million concurrent players on Steam.
It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for developer Arrowhead, however, as fans were not happy when it nerfed some of the more powerful weapons in a recent update, in an attempt to balance the game.
The game is now getting ready to release its second Warbond (battle pass) on March 14, with new weapons, armour, capes, and emotes.
The upcoming Warbond, called Cutting Edge, comes with four new guns, a stun grenade, three types of armour, three capes, and three emotes.
‘Cutting Edge gives you the chance to enhance your loadout of liberty with ultra-futuristic armour, guns that spit lightning, super stylish capes, and epic emotes,’ the PlayStation blog reveals.
To get Cutting Edge, however, you’ll need to spend Super Credits, the game’s in-game currency, which is purchasable with real money. The upcoming Warbond will set you back 1,000 Super Credits, which is £7.99.
The guns included in Cutting Edge are, via the PlayStation blog:
- LAS-16 Sickle: a laser rifle that fires in short bursts.
- SG-8P Punisher Plasma: a modified Punisher shotgun with exploding plasma rounds.
- ARC-12 Blitzer: projects an arc of close-range lightning, or you can charge it up to fire off bolts.
- A LAS-7 Dagger pistol.
Helldivers 2 has been out for a month now and its popularity doesn’t look like dropping of any time soon, even if fans threw a fit over nerfed guns, especially the Breaker.
We’ll find out next week whether fans approve of the new guns and gear in the upcoming Warbond. If not, Arrowhead will certainly know about it.
What won’t happen next week is the introduction of mechs, as while Arrowhead has said they’re coming ‘soon’ they’re not listed as part of Cutting Edge, so it’s not clear how exactly they’re going to be introduced.
