British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful ran a very punctual set to accommodate Gigi Hadid’s parenting schedule when shooting the magazine’s March cover, which featured 40 “icons.”
“When 8am rolled around the models, the movie icons, the musicians, the moguls, the sporting legends and media stars began to arrive,” he recalled of the monumental — and thoroughly organized – shoot day in the magazine’s editor’s note.
“Mother and daughter Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford carpooled. … Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus squeaked in by the skin of their popstar schedules,” he continued. “And everyone made sure things ran smoothly so Gigi Hadid could make it home on time to her toddler.”
Hadid is mom to daughter Khai, whom she welcomed in 2020 with then-partner, Zayn Malik.
The 28-year-old previously noted to Net-A-Porter that she is “intentional” about the work she takes on because of her duties as a mother.
“I work when my daughter is with her dad, and that’s the time I have,” she explained. “And the jobs I choose to fill that time with have to be ones that are fulfilling to me.”
On the cover of British Vogue, Hadid was joined by several of her supermodel peers, including Cara Delevingne, Irina Shayk, Karlie Kloss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Iman, Amber Valletta and Christy Turlington.
They were also joined by plenty of other A-listers, including Ariana DeBose, Anya Taylor-Joy, Victoria Beckham Jane Fonda, Oprah, Salma Hayek, Selma Blair, Laverne Cox and Serena Williams.

“It was epic indeed,” Enninful said in his farewell essay of the shoot. “Simultaneously readying 40 of the world’s busiest women for [Steven] Meisel’s lens is no mean feat, and with a video crew downstairs ready to interview every one of them, it was the biggest set I’d been on in my career.”
“Everyone was in the highest of spirits, and it was fun to witness even the most worldly of stars’ jaws hit the floor at a never-before-seen gathering.”
He added that he wanted the cover shoot to honor women and “celebrate teamwork and togetherness,” both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Enninful announced in June 2023 that he would be stepping away from the role of Editor-in-Chief of the magazine and taking on an editorial and global advisor role.
Chioma Nnadi be stepping in as the head of editorial content. She will be the first black woman to lead the highly-respected fashion magazine.
