F1 2024 season calendar
The F1 season kicks off in Bahrain on Saturday, March 2nd.
There will be 24 stops in this year’s schedule, with the season concluding in Abu Dhabi on December 8.
Here is the full 2024 race calendar:
Red Bull partnership at risk as investigation continues
Red Bull’s partnership with Ford is reportedly at risk as the probe into Christian Horner continues.
Ford will be partners with Red Bull Racing from 2026 as the team’s engine supplier but sources say they could walk away from the deal in wake of the allegations.
The Financial Times reports that a private letter from the US carmaker to the owner of the F1 team allegedly urged Red Bull to be fully open in its findings, according to two people around Ford.
Lewis Hamilton’s frustrations continue at pre-season testing
Lewis Hamilton did not get off to the best start for the 2024 Formula One season after his car ran over a loose drain.
Hamilton, who announced this season would be his last with Mercedes, was on track for the first time after skipping out on Wednesday’s testing sessions.
However, after only a few hours of testing the session was forced to come to a stop when the stewards noticed damage to a kerb on the circuit.
Investigation could be resolved before opening race
The investigation into allegations of “inappropriate” behaviour against Christian Horner could be resolved before the opening race of the F1 season, according to reports.
The Daily Mail and the PA news agency report sources indicate that the investigation could be resolved ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 2.
The investigation has dragged on since the allegations, which Horner denies, came to light earlier this month.
Red Bull’s independent inquiry into Horner is conducted behind closed doors, with no details of the investigation or the complaint made public.
On Wednesday, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff called for transparency in the investigation, adding that it is “an issue for all of Formula One.”
McLaren boss on Horner investigation
McLaren boss Zak Brown called the allegations made against Christian Horner “extremely serious”, adding that he hoped the investigation is handled in a “transparent” manner.
When asked about the way the investigation into Horner has been handled at a press conference on Thursday, Brown said: “Well, the allegations are extremely serious.”
“McLaren holds themselves and all the men and women at McLaren to the highest standards,” he added. “Obviously, diversity and equality and inclusion are extremely important to us, our partners, to everyone in Formula One.
“Red Bull corporation it appears has launched an investigation and all we hope and assume is that will be handled in a very transparent way.
“As FIA and F1 has said, they need to handle it swiftly because I don’t believe these are the type of headlines that F1 wants or needs at this time.
“I just think it’s important that it’s handled in a transparent way in which there is no doubt and no doubt whatsoever that it has been handled appropriately and whatever the conclusion is that that conclusion is handled in an appropriate, transparent manner.”
What are the latest allegations?
In a new wave of allegations against Christian Horner, De Telegraaf reported that he allegedly sent sex messages to a female employee “over an extended period of time”.
Messages were said to have been saved and presented as evidence to the external barrister running the inquiry after the woman made a complaint last December.
The publication claims Horner’s lawyers attempted to come to a settlement with the employee and that Red Bull was aware of this.
