Salobreña Town Hall has chosen to celebrate Carnival on the 24th of this month, which will include parades and fancy-dress prizes.
There will be a marquee set up on the Complejo Deportivo Julio Martín Pérez and live music.
The Councillor for Fiestas, Nelson Ligero, is pretty chuffed with the line up and considers that Carnival will be a run up for the Día de Andalucía on the 28th; i.e., it will serve to get everybody in the spirit of things.
Starting around 18.30h there will be a parade beginning in the Plaza Juan Carlos I and heading for the sports-pavilion area. The street performers, Meninas and the flamenco dance school, Cristina Rosado will participate, as well as floats and big-heads (cabezudos).
Also included is the Entierro de la Sardina with its participants joining the main parade. As for fancy-dress prizes, each of the two categories (Adult & Children) will have three prizes (1st, 2nd & 3rd).
Then in the evening, starting at 22.00h, there will be a knees up with the lead singer of La Tentación and canned music from the DJs Rodri Gómez, J. Bless and Lahora.
Around one in the morning there will be a short pause in activities within the marquee for the burial of the sardine ceremony, then it’s back to the fiesta in the marquee.
