Heading to the start

Two and a half miles this race and they’re heading down to post.

Some are already jostling to get a good position, two minutes out from the off!

Gold Cup news

A bit of news to bring from the Gold Cup.

Monkfish was found to have bled, the stewards’ reports says.

Final tip

It’s been a good week for our tipping gurus and they have one final pick for you to end the week.

Templegate: WATERFORD WHISPERS finished like a train when second at Leopardstown on handicap debut last time so the hill should be ideal. He was good in winning novice contests at Galway and Fairyhouse and he has a lot more to come for Henry De Bromhead.

Matt Chapman: TEDDY BLUE is a massive price for Niall Houlihan and Gary Moore but I think he might defy the odds.

Change of luck

It’s been a nightmare week for Nicky Henderson.

But can he finish on a high here? His only two runners of the day come in this one.

Here’s what he told his Unibet blog:

No Ordinary Joe: He ran a very encouraging race at Kempton in February where he showed signs of coming back to himself and he’s only a pound higher than when second in this race last year. The ground won’t be an issue and he comes into this with good claims.

Russian Ruler: He actually ran much better at Kelso last time than the form suggests because he was coming through to challenge but made a mistake at the last which knocked the stuffing out of him. With a fast pace to aim at, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go well at decent odds.
