Police divers have retrieved the body of a man who failed to resurface after jumping into a river at a popular swimming spot in south-west Sydney.
The man was swimming in the Kentlyn Basin located in the Keith Longhurst Reserve, near Campbelltown, about 3.45pm when he jumped into the water.

The alarm was raised when he failed to resurface, sparking a search involving local police, SES members and officers from the NSW Police dive unit who scoured the waterway which forms part of the Georges River.
Police divers found the man’s body just before 7pm.
Witnesses told Nine News the man and his younger sister were playing with a remote control boat near the water’s edge before the man jumped off a rock into the river to retrieve it and did not resurface.
An ambulance helicopter and paramedics had rushed to the scene and treated a woman for minor injuries, a NSW Ambulance spokesman said. She was not transferred to hospital.
In a separate incident, a woman died following a boat crash in Sydney’s north-west on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to a boat ramp on Pitt Town Ferry Road, Wilberforce just after 9pm following reports that a boat had crashed into the riverbank.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a woman – believed to be aged in her thirties – but she died at the scene.
A 38-year-old man sustained minor injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.
Earlier on Sunday, police resumed a search for a man in his 60s who was swept into the sea while rock fishing with a group at Fingal Bay on Port Stephens on Saturday morning.
