Somebody tried to break into a restaurant in Salobreña on Avenida Mediterráneo in the early hours of yesterday.
The Guardia Civil are investigating the attempted burglary, which took place around 02.30h Thursday morning.
According to the police report, a man, who has since been identified, broke into the restaurant with the intention of grabbing what was to hand. Unfortunately for him, the owner of the restaurant, who had been nearby at the time, interrupted the burglary so the thief tried to flee.
However, the owner confronted him and blocked his escape route by blocking the front door. Seeing that he couldn’t get out that way he smashed a glass door but between the shouts coming from the owner and the noise of the man breaking the glass door, other neighbours were alerted.
Yet he managed to give them all the slip but not before everybody got a good look at him and were able to identify him, which led to his consequent arrest.
This incident is just one more in a long line of burglaries (around 50) within the municipality with cortijos mainly being targeted. For this reason, there will be a protest outside the Town Hall at noon (12.00h) which has been organised by a social-media platform.
