Manchester City have entered the race to sign Kylian Mbappe and have already held talks with his agents, according to reports in Spain.
Mbappe has told Paris Saint-Germain that he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer, which has put some of Europe’s biggest clubs on high alert.
It has long been assumed that Mbappe will join Real Madrid but recent reports indicated that the La Liga giants are struggling to reach an agreement on wages.
That has seen a number of other clubs register their interest and it is thought that Arsenal and Liverpool have both explored deals for the Frenchman.
Real Madrid remain in pole position to land Mbappe but it is believed that the 25-year-old would ‘willingly join’ Arsenal to follow in the footsteps of Thierry Henry.
Arsenal, though, do not wish to break their wage structure to recruit the World Cup winner and the same is true for fellow English side Liverpool.
A third Premier League team has now entered the race and it is none other than Pep Guardiola’s treble winners, according to Spanish radio network Cadena SER.
It is believed that City met Mbappe’s representatives on Monday to discuss a potential transfer to the Etihad.
It remains to be seen if City will be able to make an offer to rival Real – or if the player will drop his demands to consider a switch to Arsenal or Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta hopes Arsenal are in the race to sign Mbappe but conceded that Real Madrid is the likely destination for the PSG superstar.
