Prince William and Prince Harry’s ‘gorgeous’ cousin, Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp, prefers to keep a low profile. The 29-year-old aristocrat, once dubbed “England’s most eligible man”, is the son of Charles Spencer and nephew of the late Princess Diana.
Princess Diana may not have had as privileged an upbringing as her husband Prince Charles, but it was far from ordinary. She grew up in the grand Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, which has been owned by the Spencer family for more than 500 years.
When Diana’s father, Edward, passed away in 1992, the estate went to his youngest child, Charles, who was only 27 at the time, as he was his only surviving son.
Earl Spencer’s eldest son, Louis, could one day inherit the Althorp estate. Louis, a budding actor, and cousin to Princes William and Harry, was a toddler when his aunt Diana passed away due to tragic car crash in Paris.
Princess Diana rests peacefully at the stunning Althorp estate. Earl Spencer, Diana’s brother who fathered seven children from three marriages, erected a garden temple memorial for Diana also showcasing her wedding dress and other personal items at an onsite museum.
Louis, the future tenth Earl Spencer, is known to be a private individual. A close source divulged to The Telegraph: “He’s super private and gets on quietly with his thing. He’s a very talented actor and, I think, will be a brilliant one. You’d like him. He’s very low-key and genuine, decent and kind and tall.”
Lady Kitty Spencer, Louis’ elder sister, a well-known socialite and model, has addressed the male primogeniture tradition, where the inheritance goes to the first-born son. She expressed: “Primogeniture can be a tricky topic, because as times are changing, attitudes are as well. We’ve grown up understanding that it’s Louis’ to inherit, and Louis will do an incredible job.”
Louis was raised with his sisters in Cape Town, South Africa, before moving to the UK to study at the University of Edinburgh. He’s the youngest child of Earl Spencer and Victoria, his first wife.
Jonathan Shalit, the chairman of the InterTalent agency, spoke highly of Louis, saying: “In terms of judging his potential there’s what he looks like and his family name. The Americans will love him, in particular. He’ll get some good roles from his name alone. And he’s good looking.”
As future inheritor of Althorp House and the earldom, Louis has reportedly already begun attending trustees’ meetings.
The current Earl Spencer stated in 2015 that he is comfortable with the tradition of passing on the home to his eldest son: “I would be totally relaxed about Kitty inheriting it, but… if I chose Kitty it would be against all the tradition that goes with Althorp.”
The Viscount has proven a hit with royal fans on social media, with one writing: “Louis Spencer is such a gorgeous man.”
Meanwhile a second joked that he is a “gorgeous fella”, while a third chimed in: “Charles Spencer’s children are gorgeous and very good looking.”
