EXCLUSIVE: Meet one of the stars of Netflix’s new reality property show Making It In Marbella

NETFLIX has announced a new reality show following the lives of Marbella property brokers and we met one of the stars.

Just four years after Homerun Brokers launched on the Costa del Sol, they’ve caught the attention of international streaming platform, Netflix.

The entertainment giant picked the Swedish brokerage as the star of its reality property show, Making It In Marbella.

Today, the once small agency has become a property empire, employing over 25 members of staff across its sales, rentals and development departments.

“We’re all really unique, funny characters, we move fast, sometimes we have dilemmas or dramas but I think we have what it takes to make a cool and interesting series,” Matias Concha, told the Olive Press.

The 44-year-old Partner and Real Estate Broker continued: “What is a TV series without a little bit of drama.

“I’ve seen other real estate programmes and I think ours will be just as good.”

Filming took place between September and October last year for six weeks and according to Matias, ‘we showed almost every corner of Marbella’.

Alongside the company offices at Los Naranjos Golf Club and on the Golden Mile, viewers can expect to see familiar locations like local beaches and La Zagaleta Golf Resort.

The series follows the professional and personal lives of Homerun staff as they sell luxury properties to Marbella’s rich and famous.

According to Matias, the show will be completely authentic.

“They never told us what to do or say,” he said.

“We just went about our day to day but with huge cameras, it was very different but fun and exciting too.”

Born in Sweden to a Chilean dad, Matias moved to Marbella six years ago, where he began his career in real estate.

In Sweden, he left behind a football legacy, having played professionally for 17 years, managed teams and served as a TV football expert.

After retiring from football, he decided to try his hand at selling properties.

He said: “Real estate always interested me so when the opportunity came up I took it.

“I love it. Everyday is a surprise. No day is like any other.”

Now, he has been in Marbella for six years working in the sector.

Despite the glitz and glamour of the city, he never expected to reignite his celebrity status.

“The worldwide publicity we will get from the show is invaluable. Netflix is one of the biggest platforms in the world.

“I was in sports for a long time so I’m interested to see if being known from Netflix will be different.”

The show is due to premiere sometime this year, but no official date has been released.
